7 Principles of Successful Organizing

1. Keep it Simple ---- the strongest organizations are always the simplest. the more complex you make something, then more likely that one of the arts will break down.

2. Participation: strive for more involvement. ----- people tend to be down on what they are not up on. if youre recognizing an office, open and frequent communication is a must. our ideas are always better than my ideas.

3. Delegation: Make specific assignments. -=---- break down major goals into smaller tasks and match the right people with the right tasks. know what each task involves and know who is best qualified to do it. remember, everyone's responsibility usually ends up being nobody's responsibility.

4. Motivation: Allow for ownership.------- effective organizations allows workers to develop their own areas of tesponsibility without unnecessary interference. giving people at work always increases motivation and improves morale.

5. Cooperation: Encourage Teamwork.---- develop a climate of trust and teamwork - its a characteristics you find in organizations that accomplish the impossible. Henry Ford used to say, " coming together is a progress. thinking together is success!

6. Administration: Supervise the Progress.---- establish clear lines of accountability. people do what is inspected, not just what is expected.

7. Appreciation: Be generous with recognition.----- change is always a stress on people. be sure to recognize and reward the effort of others.!

Tips to be A Successful One... happy reading and apply it in your daily lives..

Did You Know That?

**in England, the Speaker of the house is not allowed to speak?

** the dictionary is the place where "success" comes before "work."?

** the only 15-letter word that that cna be spelled without repeating a letter is "uncopyrightable"

** "Facetious", "abstemious" and "arsenious" contain all the vowels in the correct order?

** "Rhythms" is the longest English word without a vowel.

** the word "news" did not come about because it was the plural of "new". it came from the first letters of the words North, East, West and South. This was because information was being gathered from all different directions.

** the names of te continents end with the same letter they start with (Africa, America, Antarctica, Asia, Australi and Europe)

** A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time equivalent to 1/100th of a second. this is the reason for the expressions, "ill be there ini a jiffy"

** "i am" is the shortest complete sentence in the English language.

** the verb "cleave" is the only Enlish word with two synonyms that are antonyms of each other: adhere and separate.

NOW I KNOW. LOL :)

Tongues Can Be USed to Control Devices

in the future, people who are physically challenged (from the neckdown) can control computers, manipulate wheel chairs, and operate home appliances.
How can this be done? they can use their tongues. that sounds amazing, byt researchers from Atlanta, Georgia, in the United STates will soon make the tongue not just for tasting but also for moving things, especially for the physically challenged individuals. they are developing the Tongue Drive System, a technology that turns the tongue into a joystick of sorts. the device will transform a physically challenged persons mouth into a virtual computer, the teeth into a keyboard, and the tongue into the key that manipulates it all.
The researchers said using the tongue is a more flexible, sensitive, and tireless option. alongside the Georgia research, a company is California in the United States has already designed a nine-button keypad that can be placed on the roof of the mouth to control electronics.

the device works by using a 3 millimeter magnet placed under the tip of the tongue. the magnet's movement is tracked by sensors on the side of each cheek, which sends data to a receiver atop a rather bulky set of headgear. it is then processed by software that converts the movement into comamnds for a wheelchair or other electronics.

the device enables a person to perform six basic commands: left , right, forward, backward, single-click and double-click

Why Does Durian have Strong and Funny Smell?

The durian, called king of fruits, has a strong oder - so strong that the smell passes through the fruits husk. those who do not like the smell of durian found that this fruit has different types of smell, depending on its species. example, red durian (Durio dulcis) has a turpentine odor. Red-fleshed durian (Durio graveolens) smells like roasted almonds.

Three researches about the aroma of durian found a mixture of chemicals, such as esters, ketones, and sulfur, which could be the reason for the fruits distinct smell. however, more studies are still needed to find out which particular chemicals are really responsible for the durian smell.

Durian Facts :

*** durian flowers are closed during the day.
*** the fruits strong odor can be smelled by animals half a mile away.
*** a durian fruit grows up to 30 centimeters long and 15 centimeters wide. if weighs about 1 to 3 kilogram.

Rubber That CAn Stretch Lives

are you amazed with how the fleas do their acrobatic stunts of flying and jumping? fleas owe this amazing ability to a unique protein called resilin. Resilin is an important part in insects. this protein allows insects to leap long distances and makes them able to smoothly flap their wings.

From resilin, scientists at the Commonwealth Science and Industrial REsearch ORganization in Australia where able to develop a rubber-like material. This material can be stretched three times its original length without breaking. Resilin according to the scientist, is the nearest material that can be compared with the humans elastic protein - the elastin. Elastin allows our blood vessels to expand and contract. because of their similarities, scientists thought that resilin may be an effective material to be used in restoring arteries.

it is very amazing to know that even the parts that cfan be found in insects can help cure human illness.

WOw so amazing..! Hope readers uve learn new things today!

Race for Nature

every year, young scientists from schools in the United STates build electric cars that run on batteries. these cars are usually 10 feet long with three or four wheels. the cars race in an event called Electrathon. the winning cars should reach about 48 kilometers using only a few cents worth of electricity.

these electric cars, also called electrathon, use fuel cells. fuel cells are new energy sources that use hydrogen to produce electricity. water, petroleum and other living things contain hydrogen. the best thing about hydrogen is that it only leaves pure water when it is used for electricity. this means that it is environment-friendly.

how about you? what have you been doing to save energy? hmmmm!!!!

readers are you guys do save energy? :P

Why do light sticks glow?

Light sticks are not candles. they are not even magic wands that can turn a frog into a prince. light sticks glow because of chemiluminescence, where light is made by the reaction of some chemicals: hydrogen peroxide, phenyl oxalate ester, and flourescent dye. hydrogen peroxide is placed inside a thin glass that is inside the light stick's container. it is surrounded by the solution of phenyl oxalate ester and flourescent dye. to operate a light stick, you bend it. this breaks the glass with hydrogen peroxide, making it blend with the solution outside. the chemical reaction of the three chemicals makes the light stick glow. this is the reason why hydrogen peroxide is called the "activator" it's the one that makes the chemical reaction happen.

Animals and Plants!

it was interesting to discover that animals are taken cared of my people, such as goatherds, cowherds, and swineherds. these people have exciting and often tedious jobs to tame wild animals. in return, animals provide humans food and clothing materials.

you can be a herder, too. just take good care of your pets or be nice to animals you see in your neighborhood.

Do you also like to be independent? it is good to be able to finish homework on your own or do household chores by yourself. But, it is always best to ask an adult for help if you feel that you cannot do a task or if you are unsure about something.

You Can Eat These Plastics!

best friend Nancy and Oscar sit together during school recess to share their baon. Nancy was especially excited that day "Hey Oscar, guess what mom made foe me today." What? asked Oscar. "SAndwich wrapped in edible plastic!"blurted NAncy. "What do u mean Nancy? asked Oscar again puzzled. Nancy explained, Edible plastics are also called food wraps. they look like your typical wrap in size, shape, and thinness. Just like a piece of paper, compared Oscar. Yes, answered Nancy, but it is made froma highly concentrated puree of a fruit or vegetable. Oh really? Can i sample it? requested Oscar. Nancy handed her friend a tuna sandwich, Oscar bit a moutful. Ummmmmm, ... it feels awkward to be eating the wrapper, but it dissolves easily in the mouth and i can taste its tomato flavor., observed Oscar. There are a lot of flavors, Oscar, like broccoli, carrot, mango, peach, pear, apple, papaya, and strawberry," informed NAncy. Why does your mom have to use edible food wraps, anyway? wondered Oscar.
"Mom says ediblee food wraps are nutritions because they keep food fresher. they are environment-friendly, because people will lessen the use of plastics and aluminum foils, which are nonbiodegrable," cited NAncy inbetween bites as the bell rang for the resume of classes.

mom and friends.. hope uve learn something from this post.. muah :P

Restraining Mosquito's Longing for Blood Prevents Dengue

How to prevent the spread of dengue and yellow fever diseases? Restrain the Aedes aegypti mosquitos' longing for mammalian blood. the A aegypti mosquito is the primary vector for dengue.

that's what researchers at Cornell University in the United States suggest. they conducted a study on how to manipulate the mating system of mosquitos. they discovered 63 proteins that male mosquitoes transfer to change the behavior of female Aedes aegypti, to restrain the female's appetite for blood.

according to the researchers, proteins can restrain the female's longing for mammalian blood. they suggest that the mating rituals of these mosquitos should be influenced with the production of male mosquito's seminal fluids. the seminal fluids act as a distinguiser to the sexual appetite of female mosquito's thus preventing the stimulation of egg production and clotting of blood that was consumed from the host.

the researchers now planning to study how to isolatem verify, and identify the targets of the mosquito proteins. they wanted to permamently reduce the drive of the female sexual appetite and decrease their mammalian-blood consumption, manipulate the physiological responses as booster in the production of their eggs, and find a way to control the spread of disease brought by mosquitoes.

Give Thanks!

WE all rely on nature in order to survive. But, we have become abusive. we throw garbage everywhere, polluting the environment. it is a good thing that there are people who do something to care for the earth that nurtures us. there are now food wraps that help lessen plastic waste. there is the Tetra Pack Company that recycles used cartons and makes them into materials that will be used to make tables and chairs.

Nature provides what all living things need to survive, just like our parents are to us. this may be the reason why it is called Mother nature. our parents work hard so they can send us to school. they make sure that we finish our studies so we can have a good job and we can stand on our own in the future. in return, we should not be abusive. we should not be asking things that they could not give. instead, we should thank them for the sacrifices they do so we can live comfortably.

Unscrambled DEbate

sorry chicken fans, but the egg came first, at least according to a team composed of a geneticist, a philosopher, and a chicken farmer.

it is a fact that living things evolve through changes in thier DNA. it is also a fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life. this means that the only possible way chickens have come into existennce is for them to have evolved from nonchickens.

according to British specialist in evolutionary genetics John Brookfield, the living organism inside the eggshell "would have had the same DNA as the chicken it would develop into, therefore, the first living thing which we could say unequivocally was a member of the species would be this first egg."

Fellow "eggperts" Proffesor DAvid Papineau at the Kings College London, as well as poultry farmer Charles Bourns agreed. "Eggs were around long before the first chicken arrived. of course, they may not have been chicken eggs as we see them today, but they were eggs,"

with that out of the way, scientists and nonscientist can now focus on the other mysteries of the universe. the chicken-or-egg case is officially solved. or is it?

am really hoping readers that uve learned something from this post.. whew.. happi reading.. :P

INSURANCE

a lot of planholders right now are so worried about their investments with Philamlife insurance company coz of the news last 2 weeks ago.. here's the story

The country’s largest insurance company, Philippine American Life and General Insurance Co. (Philamlife), is up for grabs as part of the global streamlining of its beleaguered parent company, American International Group Inc. (AIG).
In a statement last night, Philamlife said that "it had been identified for possible divestment along with some its affiliates."
The statement followed an announcement by AIG in New York that it would refocus on core property and casualty insurance business worldwide after receiving an $85 billion lifeline from the US Federal Reserve.
AIG, one of the world's biggest insurers, unveiled its intention to sell many "extremely valuable" assets and identified Philamlife as one of them.
Even before AIG made the announcement, Philamlife has attracted a number of suitors, including the Yuchengco group of companies.
Philamlife president and CEO Jose Cuisia Jr. said in a statement: "Philamlife remains to be (a) stable and strongly capitalized organization. Our policyowners and clients can be assured that their interests are protected because of the company's financial strength."
"A change of ownership will not in anyway diminish policyowners' benefits and security," Cuisia said. "We will remain focused on daily execution of our business and continue to provide our policyowners and clients with the highest levels of service."
AIG announced in New York its intention to restructure operations in order to emerge as a "smaller but more nimble" company that is solidly profitable and has good long-term growth prospects.
The group has appointed The Blackstone Group and JP Morgan as its global coordinators for the divestiture program.
"Philamlife, the largest and most profitable insurance company in the country and the undisputed market leader for over 60 years, is a crown jewel for AIG and will surely attract local and international interest," Philamlife said in its statement.
P170-B assets
The Yuchengcos' Great Pacific Life Assurance Corp. (Grepalife) and Malayan Insurance Co., Inc. earlier announced their intention to pool resources to make a bid for Philamlife, which has consolidated assets of P170 billion, or over eight times bigger than their combined resources.
Philamlife's life insurance business alone has a net worth of P21.4 billion as of end-2007.
Aside from life insurance, AIG has interests in non-life insurance, banking, mutual funds and pre-need businesses in the Philippines.
Grepalife is the sixth biggest life insurer in terms of net worth (P3.65 billion) while Malayan Insurance is the biggest in terms of both assets (P11.57 billion) and net worth (P4 billion) among non-life insurers.
Other suitors
Cuisia earlier said that aside from the Yuchengcos, there were other groups that had expressed interest in Philamlife.
In New York, AIG said Friday it planned to sell off a number of business units to pay off its massive government loan, while retaining its US property and casualty and foreign general insurance businesses.
AIG also said it planned to retain an ownership interest in its foreign life insurance operations.
AIG's traditional insurance subsidiaries have widely been viewed as safe and are likely to attract buyers. The New York-based insurer said it had already been contacted by a number of suitors.
One unit that analysts have said could be sold is the International Lease Finance Corp., which leases out more than 900 aircraft with asset values topping $44 billion at the end of the second quarter.
Brink of failure
Other businesses AIG operates include life, commercial auto and accident and health insurers.
On the brink of failure last month, AIG was bailed out when the US government offered it a two-year $85 billion loan to avoid bankruptcy during one of the most tumultuous times during the ongoing credit crisis that saw Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. file for bankruptcy protection and the sale of Merrill Lynch & Co. to Bank of America Corp.
In return for the loan, the US government received warrants to purchase up to 79.9 percent of AIG.
Raising funds
As of Sept. 30, AIG had drawn $61 billion on the credit facility.
Shortly after AIG struck its deal with the US government, newly appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Edward Liddy said he planned to quickly raise funds through asset sales, but hoped to hold on to as many of AIG's insurance operations as he can.
The sale of some of its businesses will be used to pay off the outstanding government loan, which was made by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Additional funds will be used to help address the company's capital structure.
Problems at AIG did not come from its traditional insurance subsidiaries, but instead from its financial services operations, and primarily its insurance of mortgage-backed securities and other risky debt against default.
If AIG couldn't make good on its promise to pay back soured debt, investors feared the consequences would pose a threat to the US financial system, which led to the government bailout.
AIG said it was actively working on alternatives for its financial products business and its securities lending program.
Last week, billionaire investor Warren Buffett said his firm, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., would be interested in acquiring a couple of AIG's assets depending on what the company was willing to sell. With a report from AP...

we just hope and pray that the money of the planholders are safe and in good hands as what they've promised.

and if ur one of the planholders with philamlife insurance company, visit the nearest philamlife office for more information and inquiries.

Why CAts dont Have Sweet Tooth

sweets dont mean anything for cats. they are only interested in fish or meat. thats because cats cant taste sweetness. the tongues of most mammals hold taste receptors, proteins on the cellular surface that bind to an incoming substance, activating the cells internal workings that lead to a signal being sent to the brain. the sweet receptor is actually made up of two coupled pretoins generated by two separate genes known as Taslr2 and Taslr3.

if they work properly, Taslr2 and Taslr3 form the coupled protein responsible for sending messages tot he brain when something sweet in eaten. Sweetness is a sign of rich carbohydrates, an important food source for plant eaters and humans. but cats eat only meat or fish. whether as a result of this dietary choice or the cause of it, all cats-lions, tigers and British longhairs - lack 247 base pairs for the amino acids that make up the DNA of the Taslr2 gene. as a result, it does not code for the proper protein, and it does not permit cats to taste sweets.

whew im learning another Facts today.. happy reading!

How to break up?

Ending an abusive relationship can be difficult and even dangerous. Your boyfriend/girlfriend may become angry and violent - even if they have not been violent in the past. If you are thinking of ending your relationship, consider these safety tips:

* If you don't feel safe, don't break up in person. It may seem cruel to break up over the phone or by email, but these ways can provide you the distance needed to stay safe.
* If you decide to break up in person, consider doing it in a public place. Have friends or your parents wait for you nearby. Take a cell phone with you if possible.

* Don't try to explain your reasons for ending the relationship more than once. There is nothing you can say that will make your ex happy about the break up.

* Let your friends and parents know you are ending your relationship, especially if you think your ex will come to your house or try to get you alone.

* If your ex tries to come to your house when you're alone, don't go to the door.

* Trust yourself. If you feel afraid, you probably have a good reason.

* Ask for help. To any of your friends and neighbors.
just dont forget to pray and ask guidance and peace of mind after the break up!

Consult the Doctor if your child snores!

does your child snore when he sleeps at night? if he does, you should consult your pediatrician. he might be suffering form Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS), a sleep disorder that occurs when breathing is temporarily interrupted during sleep.

OSAS is a common problem in children and is increasingly being recognized as a cause of daytime attentional and behavioral problems. unlike adults with sleep apnea who are often overweight and frequently wake up at night, children with OSAS are more difficult to recognize and diagnose.

Dr. Gretchen Navarro Locsin, a pediatric otorhinolaryngologist (ENT-head and neck surgeon) at ST. Luke's Medical Center, said parents should be concerned when they hear their children snore loudly at night.

"snoring while sleeping through the night could be caused by a numbe of factors. the child could have allergic rhinitis or enlarged tonsils and adenoids," Locsin said. "Obesity could also be another factor, but whateve the cause, it is important to bring the child to the pediatrician for assessment."

she added that there is now greater awareness for the condition. in fact, she has carried out over 100 surgeries just to correct the problem of OSAS in children.

Studies show that time to 12 percent of children snore and one to 10 percent of them have OSAS. although snoring is a common sympton in children with obstructive sleep apnea, it is important to remember that between 10 and 20 percent of normal children snore (primary snoreiing) on a regular or intermittent basis.

in addition to continuous loud snoring, other symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea in children include failure to thrive (weight loss of poor weight gain); mouth breathing, enlarged tonsils, and adenoids, problem sleeping and / or restless sleep; excessive daytime sleepiness; and daytime cognitive and behavior and hyperacitivity, which can lead to problems at school. Loscin said the diagnosis of OSAS in children is usually based in the characteristics chinical symptoms of loud snoring, mouth breathing, observed apnea (stoppage of breathing), and restless/disturbed sleep. these children usually have large tonsils and / or adenoids

children suspected of having OSAS should be evaluated by a specialist and, if necessary, should undergo a polysomnographic study (sleep study).

this test is performed overnight in a sleep laboratory under direct supervision.

this brain, heart, lungs, oxygen, snoring, body position, muscle and flow date are collected while the patience sleep. these data are then analyze and interpreted by a sleep specialists. OSAS is just one of the topics that we be tackled during the first Asian Pediatriatic Otorhinolaryngology Meeting scheduled on June 7-8 at the EDsa Shangrila hotel.

organized by the department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and New Surgery of St. Luke's Medical Center a two-day meeting has the theme "the classics of pediatric ORL Practice: Asian Perspective."

Eight speakers from ASia and EUrope have been invited to speak on rhinologotology, oropharynx and airway.
