Race for Nature

every year, young scientists from schools in the United STates build electric cars that run on batteries. these cars are usually 10 feet long with three or four wheels. the cars race in an event called Electrathon. the winning cars should reach about 48 kilometers using only a few cents worth of electricity.

these electric cars, also called electrathon, use fuel cells. fuel cells are new energy sources that use hydrogen to produce electricity. water, petroleum and other living things contain hydrogen. the best thing about hydrogen is that it only leaves pure water when it is used for electricity. this means that it is environment-friendly.

how about you? what have you been doing to save energy? hmmmm!!!!

readers are you guys do save energy? :P

Why do light sticks glow?

Light sticks are not candles. they are not even magic wands that can turn a frog into a prince. light sticks glow because of chemiluminescence, where light is made by the reaction of some chemicals: hydrogen peroxide, phenyl oxalate ester, and flourescent dye. hydrogen peroxide is placed inside a thin glass that is inside the light stick's container. it is surrounded by the solution of phenyl oxalate ester and flourescent dye. to operate a light stick, you bend it. this breaks the glass with hydrogen peroxide, making it blend with the solution outside. the chemical reaction of the three chemicals makes the light stick glow. this is the reason why hydrogen peroxide is called the "activator" it's the one that makes the chemical reaction happen.

Animals and Plants!

it was interesting to discover that animals are taken cared of my people, such as goatherds, cowherds, and swineherds. these people have exciting and often tedious jobs to tame wild animals. in return, animals provide humans food and clothing materials.

you can be a herder, too. just take good care of your pets or be nice to animals you see in your neighborhood.

Do you also like to be independent? it is good to be able to finish homework on your own or do household chores by yourself. But, it is always best to ask an adult for help if you feel that you cannot do a task or if you are unsure about something.

You Can Eat These Plastics!

best friend Nancy and Oscar sit together during school recess to share their baon. Nancy was especially excited that day "Hey Oscar, guess what mom made foe me today." What? asked Oscar. "SAndwich wrapped in edible plastic!"blurted NAncy. "What do u mean Nancy? asked Oscar again puzzled. Nancy explained, Edible plastics are also called food wraps. they look like your typical wrap in size, shape, and thinness. Just like a piece of paper, compared Oscar. Yes, answered Nancy, but it is made froma highly concentrated puree of a fruit or vegetable. Oh really? Can i sample it? requested Oscar. Nancy handed her friend a tuna sandwich, Oscar bit a moutful. Ummmmmm, ... it feels awkward to be eating the wrapper, but it dissolves easily in the mouth and i can taste its tomato flavor., observed Oscar. There are a lot of flavors, Oscar, like broccoli, carrot, mango, peach, pear, apple, papaya, and strawberry," informed NAncy. Why does your mom have to use edible food wraps, anyway? wondered Oscar.
"Mom says ediblee food wraps are nutritions because they keep food fresher. they are environment-friendly, because people will lessen the use of plastics and aluminum foils, which are nonbiodegrable," cited NAncy inbetween bites as the bell rang for the resume of classes.

mom and friends.. hope uve learn something from this post.. muah :P

Restraining Mosquito's Longing for Blood Prevents Dengue

How to prevent the spread of dengue and yellow fever diseases? Restrain the Aedes aegypti mosquitos' longing for mammalian blood. the A aegypti mosquito is the primary vector for dengue.

that's what researchers at Cornell University in the United States suggest. they conducted a study on how to manipulate the mating system of mosquitos. they discovered 63 proteins that male mosquitoes transfer to change the behavior of female Aedes aegypti, to restrain the female's appetite for blood.

according to the researchers, proteins can restrain the female's longing for mammalian blood. they suggest that the mating rituals of these mosquitos should be influenced with the production of male mosquito's seminal fluids. the seminal fluids act as a distinguiser to the sexual appetite of female mosquito's thus preventing the stimulation of egg production and clotting of blood that was consumed from the host.

the researchers now planning to study how to isolatem verify, and identify the targets of the mosquito proteins. they wanted to permamently reduce the drive of the female sexual appetite and decrease their mammalian-blood consumption, manipulate the physiological responses as booster in the production of their eggs, and find a way to control the spread of disease brought by mosquitoes.

Give Thanks!

WE all rely on nature in order to survive. But, we have become abusive. we throw garbage everywhere, polluting the environment. it is a good thing that there are people who do something to care for the earth that nurtures us. there are now food wraps that help lessen plastic waste. there is the Tetra Pack Company that recycles used cartons and makes them into materials that will be used to make tables and chairs.

Nature provides what all living things need to survive, just like our parents are to us. this may be the reason why it is called Mother nature. our parents work hard so they can send us to school. they make sure that we finish our studies so we can have a good job and we can stand on our own in the future. in return, we should not be abusive. we should not be asking things that they could not give. instead, we should thank them for the sacrifices they do so we can live comfortably.
