Arroyo declares Sept. 7 and 21 as non-working holidays

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Friday declared September 7 and 21 as non-working holidays.

Malacañang said September 7 will be observed as a “national day of mourning" in honor of Iglesia ni Cristo’s executive minister Eraño Manalo, who passed away last Monday due to cardiopulmonary arrest.

Mrs. Arroyo said flags in government offices will be flown at half-mast for the spiritual leader’s burial.

The declaration of September 21 is in observance of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Both Sept. 7 and 21 are Mondays.
